SPRING SUMMER 22

ACE OF SPADES

Much like their SS21 collection titled “GODSTAR,” which was a tribute to the late Genesis P-Orridge, “Ace of Spades” is an homage to the late Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead. Every Spring/Summer collection moving forward will be a tribute to a creative who has inspired us—in one way or another. Reworking and reimagining signature pieces from the brand's previous collections, “Ace of Spades” is an amalgamation of elements that were featured before: “Y” yokes, back utility pockets, exaggerated extenders, adjusters, and boot/flare zippers.

In addition to slight adjustments of silhouettes and a more liberal use of color and animal prints, the recreated pieces also feature more signature hardware, such as the floral concho and snap buttons with the Youths In Balaclava logo embossed. Most of the graphics present in this collection are reactions to the songs of Motörhead, while the rest represent the four suits that embody different aspects of the brand.

Apart from the title “Ace of Spades” sharing its name with Motörhead’s fourth studio album, the inspiration derived from the late Lemmy Kilmister was less direct and literal; small elements of interest—such as the silhouette of Lemmy Kilmister—acted as more of a jumping-off point to be viewed through the lens of the brand.

In addition to being an homage collection, “Ace of Spades” also serves as a proper introduction to the Spades suit, which represents the Youths In Balaclava mainline collections.
